Prof. Sandhya Tiwari Brings Academic Leadership and Global Education Perspective to Harvard University

Prof. Sandhya Tiwari, a distinguished academic, author and higher-education administrator with more than two decades of experience in teaching, research and student mentorship, will be featured among eminent educators and global thought leaders at the Skills Live Show × Harvard 2026, organised in association with the Global Economic Forum (GEF) in the United States from 11th to 17th August 2026.

Prof. Tiwari currently serves as Professor and Head, Department of English; Dean, School of Languages; and Dean, International Affairs (Additional Charge) at Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal. She is also an Executive Council Member of the Central University of Kashmir, contributing to academic governance, institutional development and international engagement.

With extensive experience in higher education, Prof. Tiwari has played a significant role in curriculum development, academic administration, research mentorship and international academic collaboration. She has introduced structured mentoring and periodic reviews for Ph.D. scholars, helping strengthen research quality and supporting young researchers in the humanities.

She also serves as a Board of Studies Subject Expert for institutions including Central University of Himachal Pradesh, NIT Srinagar and Islamic University of Science and Technology, Kashmir. Her academic expertise spans Cultural Studies, Women’s Writings, South Asian Literatures, Gender Studies, Digital Humanities, Film Studies and Postmodernism.

Prof. Tiwari holds an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in English from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and has completed the Academic Leadership Programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her academic journey reflects a strong combination of scholarship, institutional leadership and international exposure.

An accomplished author, she has written The Silent Storm and Displacements and Alienation of Indian Diaspora, in addition to contributing to a co-authored book published by Macmillan. She has delivered more than 900 academic sessions, including 32 keynote addresses, sharing her expertise with students, educators, researchers and professional audiences.

Her contribution to research mentorship is equally notable. Under her guidance, five scholars have received UGC Junior and Senior Research Fellowships, while three scholars have successfully completed their doctoral degrees. Her mentorship philosophy combines academic rigour with empathy and a strong human-centred approach to education.

At the Harvard programme, Prof. Sandhya Tiwari is an esteemed panel member for “AI for All – Building Impact, Inclusion & Leadership.” Her participation brings the perspective of humanities, language education and international academic engagement to discussions on the responsible and inclusive adoption of artificial intelligence.

Her presence is particularly significant as AI increasingly transforms education, research, communication and the humanities. Her expertise in Digital Humanities, cultural studies and academic leadership provides an important perspective on ensuring that technological advancement remains connected to human values, critical thinking and inclusive education.

The international programme features distinguished personalities including Prof. Dr. Parin Somani, CEO of LOSD; Baron Alec Stern, entrepreneur and philanthropist; Ellen Mannaert, humanitarian investor and entrepreneur; Cllr Tushar Kumar, Mayor of Elstree & Borehamwood; and Dr. Hari Krishna Maram, Chairman of the Global Economic Forum and AI Evangelist.

The panel further brings together accomplished professionals including Dr. Umesh Neelakantan, Dr. Nirmala Joshi, Dr. Sri Valli Chekuri, Suchetha Raj, Dr. Da Thejeswari, Dr. Rajkumar Marotrao Kolhe and Dr. Prerana Rajkumar Kolhe, representing diverse fields including education, research, healthcare, entrepreneurship and social development.
